DURATION: 24 months from 28.09.2023 to 27.09.2025
RESPONSIBLE: Prof. Magagnoli Stefano (Head of Unit)

Brief description
The research aims to explore Italy's industrialization and economic performance through the analysis of registered trademarks as historical sources. Between 1861 and 1965, some 165,700 trademarks were registered by Italian and foreign companies, with documentation preserved and digitized in the Central State Archives. The project will help fill the gap in trademark research in Italy by comparing it with advanced studies on foreign trademarks. In particular, it will examine the evolution of the value of trademarks, their impact on consumer perception and the role of intellectual property rights in economic development. An online database with information on trademarks will be created, which will also be useful for dissemination and educational purposes, going beyond specialized boundaries.
